Torbay & District Parkinson’s Branch South West of England
Welcome to the Torbay & District Parkinson’s website, we are a local group in force to ensure that there is a support network on hand for local Parkinson’s sufferers and their carers. Our aim is to be the shoulder for local people who require advice, medical care, financial aid or just a chin wag! If you’re reading this and you have Parkinson’s or are the carer of somebody who does then we are here to help you.
We offer a varied programme of events, activities and fundraisers, including guest speakers who attend our meetings. We are not only a support method and fundraising charity we also ensure that our Parkinson’s sufferers are never bored! Some examples of the activities we have provided for our members are cream tea afternoons, trips to the theatre, and of course the chance to talk to people who are in a similar position to you.
We have a newsletter and provide information on Parkinson’s to our members and the public. We have also recently introduced a Torbay Parkinson’s twitter account which enables us to share a diverse variety of stories on Parkinson’s as well as spreading the word and generating awareness for the cause. This website is updated regularly letting our group and the public know what events are on and what donations have been made. You can even find interesting news stories which are worth a read.
If you decide that you are in need of some support then you can email us at the following address email@example.com. We can assure you that anything discussed with us is in complete confidence. You can speak to any of our dedicated committee members about your concerns and we will do all that we can to help you.
In Torbay we’re very lucky to have two dedicated Parkinson’s nurse’s and we can refer people for this service if necessary. We also provide exercise classes for local Parkinson’s sufferers which can actually enhance quality of life. Some people just like to see people that are going through the same thing each week and have somebody to relate to. The trained nurses and advisors on the free Parkinson’s UK helpline 0808 800 0303, can also help.
If you feel that we can help in any way at all, please feel free to contact us. We cannot wait to welcome you to our group.
